Nigeria will overcome insurgency like past crises, Akpabio assures citizens

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed confidence that Nigeria will eventually overcome its current wave of insurgency, saying the country has survived far more difficult national challenges in the past.

He noted that despite repeated periods of political instability, economic hardship, and public health emergencies, Nigeria has continued to remain united and resilient.

Akpabio said the same spirit of endurance will help the country defeat terrorism and other security threats currently affecting different regions.

“We have survived political upheavals, economic turbulence. We will survive insurgencies,” he said.

His remarks come amid ongoing insecurity concerns across parts of the country, including banditry, kidnappings, and terrorist attacks that have affected rural and urban communities.

The Senate President has consistently called for unity and collective responsibility in addressing security challenges, stressing that national survival depends on cooperation between citizens and government institutions.

Security agencies have in recent months intensified operations across multiple states, carrying out raids, arrests, and rescue missions targeting armed groups.

Despite these efforts, attacks have continued in some areas, keeping public attention on the need for stronger coordination and long-term solutions.

Akpabio’s message aligns with earlier comments where he urged Nigerians to maintain hope and support ongoing efforts to restore stability across the country.

For now, his latest assurance adds to a growing political narrative focused on resilience, unity, and confidence that Nigeria will eventually overcome its security crisis.

The key question remains how quickly those assurances will translate into lasting peace on the ground.
