Wedding Entertainment

If you want a truly unusual way to entertain your guests, don’t think of a magician, or comedian… think about hiring a living statue. This will surprise and amuse your guests. Imagine their faces when a statue they admire comes to life!

It’s important to make sure that the statue you hire matches your venue though. Romantic Cupid-like statues won’t work in a modern, minimal venue. You need to hire a living statue that looks like it belongs in the venue, so guests will approach it totally unsuspecting.

If you’re having a themed wedding, consider matching your statue to your wedding theme. You could have something to do with you and your partner’s professions — statues of doctors, soldiers, teachers etc. You could even look into getting some Hollywood lookalike statues to really add the wow factor to your wedding. Guests will love posing with these.

You can even hire human trees and living topiaries, which would be perfect for an outdoor wedding.

There are a few things you need to check before hiring a living statue. Make sure you see their costume and examples of their work before you pay any money. Also, check with your venue that the performer is permitted and that there is a place for them to stand, which will look good.

Check how long you can book them for. You ideally want your performer in place before the guests arrive, and if they have to leave before the end of the night, they should be able to do it discreetly. Nothing shatters an illusion like seeing someone snap out of character just because their time’s up.

Try to deal directly with the performer or a specialist company rather than an entertainment agency. This should work out more affordable as you won’t have to pay the agency’s rates on top of the performer’s fee. Like with any wedding entertainment you book, make sure you have the agreement in writing and signed to cover you in case anything doesn’t go to plan.
